The day after French Liberation, the British soldiers came ashore in landing craft and Naval Officers raised the Union Flag out of the harbour masters office window. All reenacted every year in a day of celebration

I always think the Channel Islanders must have been really angry that it took eleven months after D Day to be liberated. Remarkable.
They never gave up hope
